How to make a before and after image
- Drop the before photo and the after photo together. The first one goes left, the second one right.
- Edit the two labels, or switch them off. Pick the Layout 2 stacked if your photos are wide.
- Click a cell and drag the photo so both show the same part of the subject. Zoom if the framing differs.
- Download the image or save it to your photos.
Tips for before and after photos that convince
- Shoot both from the same spot, at the same height and distance, with the same light. The change then speaks for itself.
- Match the crop with the Zoom slider and the move controls, so edges and the subject line up across the cells.
- Keep the labels short. One word each is enough.
- Ask clients before you post their photos, and keep their consent on record.
Who uses before and after images
Hairdressers show a colour or cut, photographers show retouching, estate agents show a renovation, restaurants show a plating change. The same layout carries all of them. For more ideas by industry, see the guides for hair salons, photographers and real estate.
What happens to your photos?
Nothing leaves your device. Your browser reads, arranges and exports the photos itself, so there is no upload and no server involved. That matters for client photos.
FAQ
Is the before and after maker free?
Yes. There is no signup, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it.
Can I change the labels?
Yes. The labels read Before and After by default. Edit them or switch them off.
Can I stack the photos instead of putting them side by side?
Yes. Choose the layout with two stacked photos in the layout row.
Which size should I use?
1:1 works well for side by side, 4:5 gives stacked photos more room. Both export at 1080 px wide, or 2160 px if you choose Width 2160.
