How to make a photo collage
- Drop several photos at once. They fill the cells in order. You can add more later.
- Pick a layout: single, two side by side or stacked, three side by side or stacked, one large photo with two small ones, four in a grid, or six.
- Choose a format: 4:5 for the feed, 1:1 for a square, 9:16 for Stories and Reels.
- Click a cell to select it. Drag inside it to move the photo, use the Zoom slider to crop closer.
- Set the gap, the margin, the corner radius and the background colour, then download the image or save it to your photos.
Which layout for which job
- Two side by side: comparisons, before and after, then and now.
- Two stacked: a wide photo above a second one, good for landscapes and interiors.
- One large, two small: one hero photo plus two details.
- Four in a grid: products, a weekly recap, four angles of one place.
- Six in a grid: an overview or a mood board. Cells get small, so choose clear photos.
Which format?
4:5 is the tallest portrait ratio in the Instagram feed and gives every cell the most room. 1:1 is the classic square and the safer pick if the collage also goes to other platforms. 9:16 fits Stories and Reels. If the collage becomes one slide of a carousel, export every slide in the same format, because Instagram crops all slides to the ratio of the first one.
Tips for collages that look clean
- Use photos with similar light and colour. A common background colour and an even gap do the rest.
- Keep faces in the middle of their cell. Move and zoom each photo so the main subject sits where the cell is widest.
- Cells are small on a phone. When faces or text matter, stay at four photos or fewer.
- Choose PNG for graphics with sharp edges and JPG for photos.
What happens to your photos?
Nothing leaves your device. Your browser reads, arranges and exports the photos itself, so there is no upload and no server involved. HEIC photos from an iPhone are converted in your browser as well. You can check it yourself: open the network tab of your browser while you use the tool, and you will see no image request.
