How to check your caption length
- Paste or type your caption into the box.
- Choose the limit: Instagram caption, Instagram bio, LinkedIn post, TikTok caption or your own number.
- Watch the bar and the Left number. When it turns red, you are over the limit.
- Use Remove duplicates to clean repeated hashtags, or Copy hashtags to reuse them.
The limits in the tool
- Instagram caption: 2,200 characters.
- Instagram bio: 150 characters.
- LinkedIn post: 3,000 characters.
- TikTok caption: 4,000 characters.
Platforms change their limits. If yours differs, choose Custom and enter the number you see in the app.
What readers see before more
On Instagram only the first part of a long caption is shown before the "more" link, roughly the first 125 characters. When your caption is longer, the tool shows that part, so you can check that the hook sits where people will see it.
How characters are counted
The counter counts every Unicode character, so an emoji usually counts as one. Line breaks count as characters too. Instagram counts hashtags and mentions as part of the caption. Instagram has changed its hashtag rules more than once, so the tool shows how many hashtags you use and leaves the limit to you.
