How to turn a PDF into Instagram slides
- Drop your PDF, or tap to choose it. The pages are converted at once.
- Pick the slide format. "As in the PDF" keeps each page as it is. 4:5 (1080 × 1350) is the standard for carousels, 1:1 is the safe square, 9:16 is for Stories and Reels.
- Choose 1080 px wide for Instagram. 2160 px only makes sense if you need the pages bigger for something else.
- Download one slide, or all of them as a ZIP. The files are numbered 01, 02, 03, so they arrive in the right order.
Why Instagram needs images, not a PDF
Instagram does not take PDFs. A carousel is made of images or videos, up to 20 slides, and every slide is cropped to the format of the first one. If your carousel only exists as a PDF, each page has to become its own picture first. That is what this tool does, and it keeps the numbering so the slides stay in order.
Coming from Canva
Canva lets you download the pages as PNG or JPG directly, and for a sharp result that is the better route. This tool is for the PDF you already have: one a client sent you, one you exported earlier, or one from another program. Whatever page size the PDF has, the tool scales each page to the width you pick, so a Canva carousel comes out 1080 px wide. More on blurry exports in Canva post blurry on Instagram.
Your PDF is not uploaded
Most online converters send your file to a server. This one does not. The first time you drop a PDF, the page loads a PDF reader of about 2 MB from postd.ai. After that your browser does all the work. You can check it: open the network tab while you convert, and you will see no request that carries your file.
What can go wrong
Fonts that are not embedded in the PDF are replaced by similar ones, so text can look slightly different. Password-protected PDFs have to be unlocked first. Pages come out as flat images, which means the text can no longer be selected or edited. Transparent areas turn white, or take the colour of the page corner when you change the format.
FAQ
How do I convert a PDF to JPG for Instagram?
Drop the PDF into the tool above, choose the slide format and JPG, and download. Each page becomes one image, numbered in order, 1080 px wide.
Does Instagram accept PDF files?
No. Instagram takes images and videos. Turn each page of the PDF into a JPG or PNG and upload those as a carousel.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
How many pages can I convert?
The first 20 by default, because Instagram takes 20 slides per carousel. Choose "All pages" to convert up to 60.
Can I keep the text editable?
No. The pages become images. If you need to change the design, edit it in the program that made the PDF, or rebuild the carousel in the postd editor.
